Public Works

The ACUA has started to introduce automated side load trucks to their fleet and are being used here in Hamilton Township for trash collection.  Nothing will change with your scheduled collection day; however, this could mean that your bulk items may not be collected by the same truck that picks up your cart.  In an effort to be more efficient the drivers are reporting bulk at the residence and a different truck will collect the bulk.  Most bulk will still be collected the same day as your trash, some may be picked up the following morning.  We ask that you please keep your trash and recycling carts a minimum of 3 feet apart, so the electronic arm has enough room to pick up the carts properly.  Also, please do not lean your bulk items against the carts, they too should be separate.

This only applies to those that have trash carts, if your community uses dumpsters this will not apply to you.

For more information on trash and recycling please visit our website at www.hamiltonatlnj.gov under the public works tab.  If you have questions, please call our office at 609-625-6311.

THE DAYS OF SUMMER!

Summer has arrived along with the chore of grass cutting.  We want to take a moment to remind our residents and landscapers to keep grass clippings out of the street and the township’s storm drains.

Grass clippings, leaves, and other lawn debris can clog storm drains, resulting in street and private property flooding.  Storm drains flow directly to local waterways, and grass treated with pesticides and fertilizers can pollute our waterways.  In addition to environmental hazard, you may be creating a safety hazard.  Wet clippings can create a slippery and dangerous surface for traveling motorcyclists and bicyclists when blown into the street.

Using a mulching mower puts clipping back into the turf and keeps the nutrients where they belong.  Should you choose to use a discharging mower, please be sure to point the blower toward your property (away from the street) to prevent clippings from leaving the lawn.

Leaves and brush are collected curbside on Saturdays by the ACUA for most of the township.  Mizpah, Bears Head and Weymouth sections are collected the first Saturday of the month ONLY if you call 609-272-6950 to request a pickup for your address.

PLEASE DO NOT DUMP YOUR GRASS CLIPPINGS ON PROPERTIES OTHER THAN YOUR OWN.  ALSO, PLEASE DO NOT DUMP IN WODDED AREAS OR STREETS.

If you would like to participate in ADOPT A STORM DRAIN or ADOPT A ROAD, please contact LuAnne McCardell at 609-625-6311 or email [email protected]

THANK YOU FOR KEEPING THE TOWNSHIP OF HAMILTON WATERWAY’S CLEAN AND SAFE!

We also would like to remind everyone to always bag your trash before placing in your trash cart.  Bagging your trash will help to keep the cart clean and sanitary and prevent litter on windy days.  All bags must be placed curbside in the gray cart only.
