Public Works

The ACUA has started to introduce automated side load trucks to their fleet and are being used here in Hamilton Township for trash collection.  Nothing will change with your scheduled collection day; however, this could mean that your bulk items may not be collected by the same truck that picks up your cart.  In an effort to be more efficient the drivers are reporting bulk at the residence and a different truck will collect the bulk.  Most bulk will still be collected the same day as your trash, some may be picked up the following morning.  We ask that you please keep your trash and recycling carts a minimum of 3 feet apart, so the electronic arm has enough room to pick up the carts properly.  Also, please do not lean your bulk items against the carts, they too should be separate.

This only applies to those that have trash carts, if your community uses dumpsters this will not apply to you.

For more information on trash and recycling please visit our website at www.hamiltonatlnj.gov under the public works tab.  If you have questions, please call our office at 609-625-6311.

THE COLORS OF FALL

After a hot summer, most look forward to cooler days, chilly nights and the beautiful colors of the leaves changing.  This is the perfect time to remind our residents of our leaf collection and yard waste guidelines.

Yard Waste is collected every Saturday. However, if you live in Mizpah, Weymouth or Bears Head areas, you must call the ACUA to schedule a pickup at least one day before the monthly township wide collection which is the first Saturday of every month.

Yard Waste Collection includes leaves, grass, brush, branches and Christmas Trees.

  • No bamboo, cornstalks, reeds, seagrass or hay/straw bales.
  • No plastic bags.
  • Place yard waste in kraft bags or in properly marked containers. Neither Hamilton Twp. nor the ACUA collect loose leaves.
  • Bags or containers should not exceed 50lbs.
  • Brush/branches must be tied with twine in manageable bundles.
  • Brush/branches should not exceed 4’ in length or 8” in diameter.

PLEASE DO NOT RAKE LEAVES INTO THE STREET, WE DO NOT OFFER ANY LOOSE-LEAF COLLECTION AND THIS CLOGGS OUR STORM DRAINS CAUSING FLOODING AND HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS.
